What is BoldVoices.TV?

Hello friends, memefilter here.

So we have an About Us (thanks Grimnir), FAQs, and stuff like that, but I've noticed that I've been repeating a lot of stuff to newcomers that I could probably just put here. I'm going to avoid a "business jargon" tone for the convenience of prose.

What is BoldVoices.TV?

Well, it started like this, in my opinion. A_G1RL and s0ckpuppet were working together on a few things at breakthematrix.com, and hauled me into a conference call about starting something new. I think the basic motive was to simply move faster and get more accomplished than BTM was doing, and to focus on more aggressive ideas than just getting a little face time on FOX.

I'd had a pretty unique 18mos of r3V0Lution-ing at that point, having run ronpaulradio.com back in its heyday. After taking the summer off from new media to think about the market I had several business plans mapped out, and as it dawned on me just how radical they were willing to be, I said "do you want me to run it for you"? I am happy to say they said yes, and we decided job #1 was to pick the core team from the "known performers" we all had met prior. So we started sending emails - nearly everyone we asked said yes, and thus the planning meetings began. We didn't agree on everything, but we built a consensus for what we did agree on. The reasoning is simple.

Many Ron Paul fans talk about Austrian Economics, and my primary sell was to implement an Austrian model, instead of just talking about it. Core features, then, would be: no central planning, market driven valuation, and NO rules or censorship. In new media that reduces to 3 primary roles: content producers (hosts), content consumers (viewers), and the technologists (nerds) to build the systems that connect them. Very simple, really. Our starting group typically wore all three hats, and we set to work building tools that we wanted for getting the job done. IRC and the bots, VOIP, webcams, Drupal as the site engine... these are just the tools we chose to build first to get the job started. Market trends suggest we'll be building more.

At the same time we began coming up with simple themes and phrases to express our vision(s). When we say we're "content inspecific" it is an expression of the lack of central planning intrinsic in Austrian models. "Management has NO opinion" on host content - a surprisingly difficult goal to achieve when we're all rather opinionated people. Other common phrases include "be BOLD" and "grow some croutons". Ever the memeticist, I'm constantly thinking about how to make ideas stick - how to teach people stuff that matters as efficiently as possible. These themes help build a culture of liberty, of self-reliance, when people start repeating them and integrating the message into their worldview. It's very effective!

So what is BoldVoices.TV? It's a community of show hosts, viewers, and technologists exploring what happens when you take your foot off the brakes. We teach what we know and learn what others know, and generally just hang out enjoying each others' company as we move forward unfucking (lol sock) all the fucked up stuff in this world. It's a truly free market of ideas, as best as we can build one, and I couldn't be happier with both the growth, and the spirit, of the people and ideas that make it possible. It's people thinking - uncensored, content inspecific, and with a big ole pair of croutons.

We don't tell you how to make money (though I could offer some ideas), we don't tell you who to talk to or what to talk about, and we don't waste too much time on people who want us to be authoritarian. That's not how "no central planning" works, bub. We do ask you to speak your mind, to be honest and fact check, and to become a community that wants to be informed, free, and happy. We don't want to tell you what to do and we don't - we expect you to figure that out for yourself, and then to get busy doing it.

It's an open door that leads to an open field filled with open minds. You'll note that between building and planting gardens there are often ongoing lectures and discussions. Thus, yelling in the monastery is frowned upon.

Hmm... that'll probably do for now - I have to get ready for Baloney Salad (weekdays, at noon, w/ me and A_G1RL) in a few minutes, so I'll end here saying: I'm having a great time because YOU are the Bold ones, and that's the best content in the world.

You have an opinion? Something to say? Where's your show? Turn on that camera and start talking. Be a Bold Voice.
