Skype Tips and Settings
I am using Skype 3.6.0.248 I found Skype of later builds to be intrusive on sound settings.
Your menus may differ and will differ greatly on a MAC. Try to locate the settings.
We will start at SKYPE – TOOLS – OPTIONS – AUDIO SETTINGS
Make sure the check box “Let Skype to adjust Audio Settings” is UNCHECKED
Choose your SOUNDCARD, or the DEVICE you use for Broadcasting. save
Go to the SOUNDS menu and MUTE ALL SOUNDS – ( You will get visual cues for ringing ) save
Go to SKYPE – TOOLS – OPTIONS – ADVANCED
Go to Manage other Programs access to Skype
If a device is listed that you DO NOT USE for broadcasting CHOOSE Change
And DO NOT ALLOW that device or program to use Skype. save
Do not just remove the device/program it will auto reinstall.
IF YOU SIGN ON AS A DIFFERENT USER THESE SETTINGS MUST BE CHANGED AGAIN.
I recommend checking these settings before each broadcast Skype can and will change the settings in your Volume – Capture – Recording Mixers in Windows if these settings are not used. ( Might do it anyway later versions do! ) If you Host a Call you must be on Stereo Mix. If you call in you should be on Mic/Line in. Mute your Mic when playing A / V content for best results
